In a group in Maiden's Eye once, we got into trouble pretty far out and I was getting the smack down laid on me by 47 Xi Xauis and their pets. So the wizard in our group says, "Evacing." And I'm like, sweet, we're going to make it out. Then I think to myself, wait I'm still getting the smack down laid uponst me while the wizard is casting evac. So being the genius that I am, I cast divine aura on myself. Couple seconds later, the groups evacs out WITHOUT YUNK. Yeah, I was standing there alone with the 47 Xi Xauis with like 3 seconds left on my divine aura. I'm like, WTF happened? I got left! . . . Steel is like, um, honey, remember with divine aura up nobody can cast anything on you... I was about level 58 when this happened =x

The Darwin Awards are given out every year to a person that does humanity a favor by removing themselves from the gene pool (i.e. guy straps B52 rocket engine to car, drives off cliff.)
In honor of that, I'd like to hear about YOUR stupidest, most "duh" blonde-moment in EQ.. I'll start it off...
I hit level 58 yay! I get the new healing spell Etheral Light but dont know how much it heals for. Instead of looking it up or asking somebody, I decide to try it on myself! I load myself up with 400,000cp (think my weight was 2700/182 or some insane thing) jump on my faithful pony Marigold and trot over to one of those nice bridges in PoK and hop off it hoping to take a few hundred damage to heal myself of.. instead I instantly kill myself by taking 20k fall damage. Fortunatly, being a cleric I was able to secretly rez myself and nobody was the wiser.
Runner up.. The classic following Midasa through WW with no Lev I see my group members die one by one.. I start falling, cast DA on the way down and rez my friends.. into a little gorge that they needed to be CoHd out of.

Once, when I was a newbie, I was playing in Crushbone and fell in the little creek there. Well, I was used to games where there was a special button to make you "swim" and I was frantically trying to figure out how to "swim"....and died. |

I would like to nominate the president of France for the Darwin award. Tonight I heard that he wants a part for France in the rebuilding of Iraq. He sites his fear that the Iraqi people will favor those that are there helping them rebuild. So apparently it has donned on him that the Iraqi people will probably favor those who had the backbone to liberate them and not the spineless cocksuckers who got in the way. I can only assume that France is punch drunk from having they're ass kicked so many times. Ooops is this PC ? _________________ Gryfndor 65 Wizard

OK, reading Ael's reminded me of when I was in Kaladim and screwing around while Pavel made my cultural armor ( yes, I was like lvl 50ish) I was swimming in the pond near the warriors guild switching views.. I accidently deactivated mouse look and forgot how to reactivate it and drown in about 4 feet of water (just enough when you're a dorf).

I, too, drowned in the Kaladim pool. It was my first day playing EQ ever, and someone in Kaladim told me to jump in the pool to get free money from the bottom (it was one of those ground spawn old worn coins or whatever, not money ) Anyway, I drowned 3 or 4 times total trying to retrieve my corpse and that damn coin that I couldn't spend. Gryfndor, if you trust what you can hear on local media, I would advise you to travel at least once outside your country.

with a group (including Rawf, Ellar & Myyrth, plus others that i can't remember) going into Crystal Caverns for the first time. No-one had any batwings so Someone (i think it may have been Myyrth) says its okay to jump down the central shaft.
Well Rawf (our main tank) got hit for 10k falling damage, Ellar got lost(before dieing), as did I (although I later found the shaft again and took the plunge). And the rest of us were at minimal HPs with about a million orcs beating on us. I managed to get an evac off and saved 3 of us.
Things I learnt: 1) I ALWAYS have batwings with me at all times (ok, now I have SoE I dont need them but old habits die hard). 2) If someone says 'jump, we'll be ok'... /disband "> Herbert Dypp - Walkers of Vazaelle Zigge Zigg'Ah - Walkers of Vazaelle Inaska Pantherine - Walkers of Vazaelle

Rick, going to have to disagree with you here, the US was not the agressor in the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, or Vietnam.
The British were clearly the agressors in the War of 1812. The aggressors of the American War were the Mexicans, although if you really want to look at it, you could say it was American Citizens that started the discontent that forced Texas to break away from Mexico. But it wasn't the American Government. And I really don't even know how you can call the Americans the aggressors in Vietnam when the war was being waged a full decade before active involvement in the war.
I agree with you on the Spanish-American War though. Shady Journalism and a lust for revenge forced the government into attacking an innocent country.
Also agree, that France at least has the guts to stand up for themselves, and seeing their recent history of having their countryside decimated twice in the last century, there is no good reason for them to want to see that happen on others.
As for the intent of the post, I have to say the same as Mildane. Way too many stupid things to call. The most common would probably be snaring myself. Edited by: TheNerple at: 3/26/03 6:55:37 am
