So... I went to Subway for lunch, and I got a nice pastrami sub. In the process of paying for said sub, the lady behind the counter asked me, "Would you like a free cookie?"

Naturally, I said, "Yes! Who would turn down a free cookie?"

As I celebrate gloriously being the recipient of a free cookie, I head back to the office, settle down at my desk, and start eating my sub. I finish it off, and then stare down at my free cookie. At that point, I said to myself, "You know, I just don't want that free cookie."

I managed to find a good home for the cookie to a coworker, who was quite overjoyed to have a free cookie.

The moral of the story? Well, there isn't one, really. I'm sure someone could come up with something poignant, but I can't.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Ahhh, but the important question is, what kind of cookie was it?

Tell me it was just the chips that were chocolate, and not the cookie, and you will be spared. The CHOCOLATE ones are the best cookies on earth.

It was merely a chocolate chip cookie, not a chocolate chocolate chip cookie. Huzzah, I'm spared.

Nope, no nuts in 'em. I disagree with the walnuts, but macadamias in cookies is okeedokee w/ me. Also macaroons (made w/ almond paste) are acceptable.

And finally, any kind of nut is not allowed in my brownies, EVER!

Nuts don't belong in desserts, that includes coconut.

The moral of the story is that being the recipient of a gift feels good - but being the giver can feel even better. Hope that cookie had a wonderful thrilling life - even if it was enjoyed shortly after.

The sad thing? Today, I would've loved to have a free cookie... alas, no free cookie was to be found.
