I was just thinking about poetry, and wondered what a poem would be like if it was ongoing with multiple authors. So I thought, a message board would be the best place to put something like this to the test, and we all know Walkers have some pretty good writers.

So. Anyone up for this? If so, read the rules and post your poetry below, then i'll check in frequently and add your writings to my post here. Then we'll see what turns out of our story.

I'll probably start this out in a few days if it's not started yet, because my mind isnt that open right now. But if anyone else wants to start it out before then, feel free.

I'm going to set up some rules for this though, just to keep things balanced. So, here we go.

RULES -

1- The type of poetry used ( ie - sonet, haiku (sp?), or whatever ) is up to the author of the added poetry, and doesnt need to be the same as any previous authors.

2- I'm not looking for novels, so there should be a limit on how many lines can be written per post. I'm going to say that any post should not contain more than 12 lines of poetry, and should have a minimum of 4 lines. Adding in that each line should have a minimum of 4 words (guideline, not rule) , and there is no maximum, but try to keep the flow of the poem going for the readers.

3- Anyone is free to post here, but to keep a good mix of things, try not to have more than 5 or so posts on the poem. This rule can be changed later when we see how the masterpeice is turning out.

4 - You can write about anything. Be it in game, your casual life, work, stuff you often think about, anything. There is no using other peoples poetry allowed on this thread, make your own. Just try to keep it pg-13, limits can be pushed here. Though if you want to get downright dirty, or bash others with your poetry, then start your own thread! =P

5 - On this thread you may only post your addition to the poem. Comments can be started on a separate thread if you like.

6 - 6 rules seems fair and simple. For this one i'll say...make sure i dont slack! If you see me not updating the poem for a while and it keeps going, i may have forgotten about it. Send me a tell in game and i'll come here to do some copy/pasting. Also, if you see any person adding poetry that is not theirs ( ie- you cant copy Shakespeare here ) then let me know about it, and i'll talk with the author.

END RULES.

This may not be an original idea, as most of mine turn out to not be. So if you've seen it somewhere else, /shrug. All in all just worry about having a good time with this.

All writers will be credited. Game on.

Gather all ye young and old
The tale of Walkers shall be told
While I am old, my time here is young...
Origins by those wiser shall first be sung
- Riverdane

'Tis not only bards who can speak and sing,
the floor is cleared for knave and king;
So harken ye to these words that follow,
lest thy history should prove hollow.
- Kaosmos

A paladin came, young and demure
hoping to assist this wonderful team,
was taken under wing and made secure
and now is home, a wonderful dream
- Bonlainy

Monks will come and Monks will go
Yet one still hangs around
Watching all his old friends grow
And loving how it sounds.

Rocsalt came and Logiktue
As brothers, much the same
Rode the fun in Walkers crew
And still carry the flame.
- Rocsalt

Once a bright young lad from Erudin
with a fresh pair of boots and hungry eyes
set off to travel the world alone
far from musty books and steward's cries

Long he traveled, 'neath every sky
through woods, by lakes that few have seen
and one fine day found a gnome wizard friend
and others whose eyes did gleam

For near and far there were things to be doing
from cobalt hued beach that shells be a'strewing
to faraway fires belched red in the earth
where dragons brood deeply over uncounted worth
to the dwellings of gods and the catchwells of flame
no matter the place; not for money or pride
but because the path went there we measured our stride
smelled the wind in the morning calling us on
night fires and friends to which we were drawn
throughout it all standing together as one
for the guts, for the glory, heck; 'cause it's FUN!

and through all the dangers and rabid gnome rants
(like that time with the honey, beartrap, and ants)
to two things much that we've done can be traced
sacrificing the rangers, and GM Kittyface! =^.^=
- Atelen

Marching strong with morning's dawn
blade with armor, shadow and song,
Walkers wrestle the challenge of fate,
proud to fight with honor not hate.

Wars fought strong, some with cost,
the dead, the remembered, some battles lost,
arise the glory of that morning's sun,
for the Walkers march on, their work not done.
