Maybe it's just me that finds it funny, but a gnome using a light bulb changer makes me laugh.

Come on Pav, NO OTHER WAY IN HELL they could reach the bulbs, not even on a chair or ladder.

In the early days of gnome lightbulb changing, they had to use catapults.
While this resulted in a low percentage of sucessful lightbulb changes, it did provide excellent population control. Twisted Evil
