Quoted from EQDruids:
Quote: | A couple of patches ago, SOE made it so that you couldn't tell whether the creatures lieing on the floor were traps or pets since they were all at 100% health. You can determine which one it is by casting a non-damage spell on it (i.e. snare). If it stands up, it is a pet. If hps drop to 1%, it's a trap. |
Supposedly when you snare it and hps drop to 1%, it just stands there. Anyone tried this yet? _________________ "I might be a little bit loco, but it keeps me from losing my mind."

I wonder if a non-damaging hate/stat tap would work the same. The next time we finish an LDoN early I'll see if the group with go for it _________________ Giasta

Unless you're way pressed for time, there's really no reason to ignore them anyway. The possibilities are:
1) Pet. Grats.
2) Get health back. Grats.
3) Get mana back. Grats.
4) Nothing happens. Oh well.
5) A handful of weak monsters spawns.
If 80 percent of the time, it's not a bad result -- and from what I've seen, it seems to be weighted about evenly -- I think it's worth the 1-in-5 chance of fighting a few spawns.
Of course, I always seem to be alone in my thinking that way in groups ... _________________

The problem is you never know when you will be pressed for time. I have been in some pretty good groups and have had my back against the wall to finish. In the end, IMNSHO, it isn't worth the risk. |
