At any given time, the guild leader may choose to nominate a current member from the Walkers of at least 30 days. The guild leader can nominate an officer by any means that he sees fit, including nominating a volunteer if he feels the person is fit to do the job.

Once the guild leader has nominated a member for officership, a poll is thrown onto the message board, where active members in the guild may cast an aye or nay vote for that nominee. The poll will remain active for seven days. When the poll elapses, the nominee must have received a 3/4 majority of aye votes to be instated.

Guidelines for officership (how do I know what to vote?): An officer should be trustworthy and dependant. He/she should display an eager attitude towards helping others in the guild, and beyond where necessary. An officer is someone you should trust to share your problems with if you are having them. An officer should also display capable leadership abilities.

Terms: Any officer or officer nominee may refuse nomination or resign from officership at any time. An officer can also be removed from his or her position by the guild leader if the guild leader sees fit, or by a simple majority vote from the guild.

Roles:

a. Notes: It is important to remember that an officer's role is a tough position. Much like the guild leader's, he/she may often times be put into situations that are not stated or defined by any policy, and he/she will need to use his or her own judgment. It is because of this that roles or duties for officers are hard to define.

b. Membership: Any officer is capable of inviting a new member into the guild if his/her application has passed the membership policy. It is a good idea to wait until the next day following the end of the blackball period to do the invite. The officer is responsible for issuing a /guildinvte, and welcoming the new member to the guild with a message in guildchat. Giving new members a warm welcome is important. Once the invite is complete, the officer is responsible for updating that member's public note field on the in-game guild list (if the officer is LoY-capable). Any officer can also invite existing member's alternate characters to the guild when they can. This is not a requirement. The in-game guild list is to be updated accordingly.

c. Membership Officer: An officer may volunteer to keep up with the membership process. This person should be available at most times to talk to anyone in-game about the Walkers' membership policy. This person will also gain moderator privileges to the "Membership" forum of the message board and is responsible for keeping membership threads up to date. It is recommended that this be looked over once a day. This official role is completely OPTIONAL. If an officer volunteers for this position, the guild leader and other officers must agree.

d. Communication: Any or all of the officers can meet to communicate at any time without approval of the guild or the guild leader. Any discussions they have are to be kept private unless the meeting is to be noted and posted.

e. Policy: The officers can meet to vote a proposed policy up or down. Such a vote requires at least 3/4 of the current officers present. This vote can be vetoed by the guild leader. If a member throws a veto to any policy change imposed by the officers, the new policy is taken to a guild-wide vote of aye/nay to the policy (preferably on the message board). Simple majority of ayes keeps the imposed policy in tact. NOTE: This should not need to be used except where a new policy being sped through the voting process is necessary for a critical situation. Any policy that affects the entire guild should be open to a guild-wide vote if at all possible. Use this right with caution.

f. Expulsion: If the guild leader is NOT online, an officer may remove someone from the guild if a person performs an act of intoleration to the guild in front of that officer, and the officer is UNABLE to get the member to stop that behavior. If any other officer is online at the time this happens, the others must agree to this abrupt action. If the guild leader is online, no officer can remove another person from the guild without the guild leader's consent. If the officer(s) themselves do not witness the act of intoleration, there must be a meeting where evidence can be displayed before a decision is made. If any officer feels a member needs to be removed from the guild, they should have a meeting with 3/4 of the officers present to discuss it.

g. Raid Officer: Any officer may volunteer to be solely in charge of the guild's raid schedule. This person will gain moderator access to the guild's "Raid" message board. If there are suggested conflicts in posted raids, this officer will be responsible for deciding when and where such events will take place. Play times, spawn possibilities, and time zones must all play factors in this officer's decisions. This position is also completely OPTIONAL. If an officer volunteers for this position, the guild leader and other officers must agree.
