If this review is accurate, and from everything I've heard, it is... then SWG has done to the MMORPG what Episode 1 did to the legacy of Episodes 4,5 and 6. Another sad, sad day for us Star Wars fanatics. _________________ Life's funny with a gun to your head. |

From everything I've read, and from my short time online before there was a problem today, I think that most of the problems outlined by those reviewing..and most of the bad opinions, come from folks that either have spent a long time on EQ or else are (consciously or subconsciously) comparing it to EQ.
It's designed to be VERY different. It's also designed to be more open ended than just about anything I've ever seen....it will definately fill "unfinished" for a long time for that express reason.
It's a role player's game I think ...however, too, a lot of those that I have talked to that criticize the fact that there is no 'goal' have not left their planet of origin and/or have not visited any of the 'true' dungeons of the game.
But, if you like Hack/Slash MUDs like EQ..then, well, yea it's not going to fulfill you, that's for sure. |

I didnt like beta at all. I was usually the only one in the city where I started out and it felt lonely. Also, I had no clue wtf was going on because the beta consisted of CD's and thats it. No instructions or information on what to do with your character. However, I reluctantly bought the release. The servers were messed up the first day so I only got to play for a little bit. It was really cool walking around Mos Eisely with wookiees, Jawas, and droids beeping everywhere around you. Overhead, you could see and hear people taking shuttles to diff parts of Tatooine. It really felt like Star Wars.
I also had a good grasp on the experience system to, since the release came with a thorough guide, and I bought Prima's strat guide. Im kinda excited to start levelling my Marksman / Scout to reach bounty hunter status.
I fell into the trap of expecting EQ when I played beta. This time I didnt expect anything, and so far I'm really pleased.
If any of you guys are playing, let me know what server youre on. Im gonna restart my toon because I picked the "unofficial" French server by accident. Shoot me a tell in game, as EQ is still my primary source of gaming enjoyment. |

I like it so far ...it's definately something you have to think about in the long term.
I'm on Chilastra (I think that's how you spell it) ...and already moving up the artisan tree pretty fast! |
