First of all, I could care less how many graphics you put in here. This is the screenshot section, there should be more pictures than words. Everyone thinks that I have some kind of problem with this, and I don't.

On a normal discussion thread, there are all kinds of graphical signatures, most of which aren't very big, or are to the point. (On our board, anyway.)

HOWEVER, go to a place like the Magician's Tower, or even Graffe's, and you'll find people that make sigs that take up your entire screen at the end of every post. That doesn't make any fucking sense. Its a DISCUSSION thread, not a let's-see-how-big-I-can-make-my-sig thread.

I know this doesn't matter to anyone, but personal graphical signatures impress me almost zilcho. The only time a sig impresses me is when I see something short and sweet or makes a historical reference that matches the sig in context. I am more impressed when people can form structured sentences in a manner that you can read the post and understand it without having to re-read, or decipher run-on sentences. I'm only saying this when you make a lenghty post, and it has no topic splits (I.E. paragraphs) or periods. If I see a post like that, I probably won't read it. I have 130 e-mails I respond to every day, plus a message board I post on, and 2 or 3 more I keep up with.

To be honest, I think most message boards should have a restriction where only the FIRST post you make on any given thread should be allowed a custom signature. For the most part, any thread that I respond to, you'll see my photo and/or sig only on the first post I make to that thread, after that, I usually turn both options off. I think this is a good compromise to what Shi's talking about. While I like looking at custom sigs on posts, I think it can get overdone a bit. I've noticed that a lot of people on the VCC do something similar. With the exception of a few really annoying people, and a few people who's sigs are so small it doesn't really matter anyway, most folks only use their custom sigs on their first reply to a thread.

While i have been addapting this tryunn.. I dont do my sigs for shilo or anyone else who likes them. I do them for me. They make ME happy that i was able to acomplish something new and tought myself how to do it. It remends ME that can do it. And if it so happens someone sends me a tell in game or whatever asking me how or if i can do one for them then WOW thats just great. Makes me feel good. But for the most part, I like them, i'm keeping them.

That's a very noble thought, Lillo, but you're still implying that I have some kind of problem with it, and I don't. Get that idea out of your head.

As far as removing your sig after the first reply on the thread, I don't think that should be a very big deal. Its not if your sig falls within the limits of a general sig.

I think its funny if you make posts where the text on your post is consistently smaller than the size of your sig. It looks out of balance to me, like looking at a fat woman walking down the street on her head.

Tryunn - By giving the out-of-balance remark, I was referring to something that "shouldn't happen," how you got that seeing that happens to me often, I don't know.
