Unfortunately, the worst thing I've ever witnessed, was also witnessed by my 2 children "> .
Two years ago (Sept. 14, 2000) my children and I witnessed the death of a 2nd grader (8 years old). The child was riding his bike on the sidewalk to school, at the same time my neighborhood bus driver was pulling into the drop-off and pick-up area. The child wasn't paying attention (busy talking to his buddy behind him) and ran into the front driver side tire of the bus which threw him up in the air and knocked him under the bus. He was then ran over by the driver side rear tires "> . It was extremely devastating to my kids and myself, but also to ALOT of other kids, because this happened 10 minutes before school was to start. So there were tons of kids outside on their way to school.
My daughter was 5 at the time of the accident and doesn't seem to remember much of it, thank goodness. Unfortunately, my son who was 9 at the time remembers everything ">
Children are like sponges. They absorb all of your strength and leave you limp, but give them a squeeze and you get it all back. |
