Update: still researching and running virus scans via floppies
Norton Anti-virus program has appeared back on my desktop and is apparently active as it sent up a window asking it I wanted to update it
I was able to access my computer properties and disable system restore for running virus scans ( not ready to poke around to see what is still disabled)
Things are looking up!!
Just need to get my computer to list modem and com port 3 in my system>device manager and I can install that new modem!!

For some reason the modem cd wont load the drivers and .inf files for installing hte new modem. Worked fine for Macs comp.
Rest of my computer is working fine ... just no functioning modem. _________________

Backup all your files, reformat the HD and reisntall windows. Sounds like you have lots of probs that are not worth problem-solving one by one. _________________ Phinneas ~ Lord Protector ~ The Walkers of Vazaelle ~ My Magelo

Heres my current update.
I reload Windows ME upon itself from my Presario.
Upon rebooting...
Nav-Auto Protect unable to start
Symevnt.386 is not loaded
comp goes on to update driver data also updates plug and play
then blue screen
Problem with system file
VxD dynamic link call: NTKERN(01)+0000331E to "MTRR ", service 2
I am given a choice to shutdown or continue with a perhaps unstable system
If I choose yes
Hardware plug and play sets up
Windows ME Setup Wizard wants log in
I type my name
get set up message SU0350 set up cannot verify end user license agreement
set up closes and computer turns off.
So this where I am atm. _________________
