Is it just me?

Is it just me or does there seem to be some players on EQ that can be real jerks?

Ok, so I go into Karnors castle, figure I would pick off a couple to kill time, I am sitting there, 63 ranger comes in, ok cool, he pulls a couple and beats em down a bit, then vanishes, well I don't know what happened, he could have ld'ed, or something, at any rate I figure I am not gonna chance 2 db mobs aggro'ing me...So I kill one, this chanty comes on and gets on me about killing the mob, So I am confused, turns out this ranger was pl'ing but failed to tell me this when he came in. So I stay away from his mobs, pull from the moat, primarily because of the undead, I can take them down faster, then I am sitting resting, and I am aggro'd, well my instinct is to fight back, well I kill it, and he jumps all over me about it. Then threatens to train everyone at the zone line. I tell him to cool out, it was only one mob and that he can't run the whole zone, there are other people in here trying to get xp as well. I wasn't trying to take his mobs, but in that one case I was just acting on instinct. It did get a little confrontational but I felt like I had not done anything wrong here. Is there another way I could have handled this?

First off - when he yelled at you about a mob that he was PLing on - if he is out of the zone its a fair mob. The only exception I will do on that is if its a named and they needed help killing. Then I would probably let them have the loot.

Second - if the mob agros you and he is not there or telling you its his mob, its fair game. If he is mostly killing, snaring, switching toons --- on that switch the mob is no agro on anyone and is fair game.

Third - When he threatened to Train you. /report his actions to the GM.

Fourth - I know of a legal way to bring mobs near someone without training them. You put 20+ KC mobs in a room just a little away. They will stay there until he starts to pull then wa-la, he trained himself. I know this because I had it happen to me.

Fifth - Where have you been? I keep lookin for you to take you on a little side trip. Nothing kinky - but fun. Shocked

If whatever he was killing was brought close enough to you and it aggroed you then you had every right to attack it, if nothing else but out of self preservation. You can also assist a mob to see who it has aggro on, so if you see it standing there target it, assist it and see what name pops up, then you know if anyone is still there attacking it. If someone were PLing by pulling to zone and snaring, or whatever, then logging to another toon all bets are off, at least in my mind. While they are switching it can attack anyone, and that person has every right to kill it. You did nothing wrong from your description Varthon, some people are just stupid and asses.

It sure can Jenny. Has happened to me a few times and I have been yelled at for Nuking greens down that hit me once. As all wizards know -- one hit wonder is our nickname.

Anyway, My opinion on it is he was wrong, in fact I agree mostly with zig on all points. If a mob aggro's me i'm killin it. If he takes aggro back, I stop killin it. But as long as I am first on his hate list, he just became my bitch and I will pimp him out to my pet as a finally. He'll get over it. Dont think yall know that, but thats one of my moto's. "You'll get over it" Lol. its alright, theres azz's all over the game. I myself can get out of control sometimes as well. Anymore i just go LD on them and log in alt for easy way out. /em is bad.....
