Dust isn't the only problem for this U.S. Army communications unit in
the desert. "One day, out of the blue, a senior officer who has no
relationship to the operation walks into the tent and announces that
there are too many electrical cords strewn about -- and starts
disconnecting them," says a pilot fish on duty. "Eight hours and four
hard drives later, the systems are up and running again. And the senior
NCO who is also the sysadmin is finally calm enough to get his weapon
back."

BEEN THERE DONE THAT. In fact during WTI I almost got charged and lost rank because of a situation like that. Good thing the gunny liked me. Very Happy

Must have had a brother in the Navy back in 85. Brass moron thought a few of us 'typists' could physically hold a 700lb Xerox copier while rest of the ship is at general quarters during shocktests. Hell.........they were only 80,000 to 100,000lb charges set at ranges from 100 to 500 feet out in water.

Cool thing about it tho.....I have a few of the aierial photos taken, and on one, the mass of water displaced is larger then my ship by at least twice. The U.S.S. John F. Kennedy is no small fry either Razz
