Kanwer, you are evil!
The stickers were indeed called Wacky Packages, and I think I still have some somewhere. Not quite as crass as the Garbage Pail Kid ones.
Topps is in fact issuing new ones now!!! http://www.wackypackages.com/
For the life of me I can't remember some of my favorites of them, and I think I was collecting them in grade school so that would have been 1970-1976.
The weird thing is that many of the things people are reminiscing about a bunch of us enjoyed in COLLEGE!!! (OK so CWRU was a weird place.) I remember a bunch of us would watch Thundercats, He-man, and She-ra if we could wrest the TV from the folks watching General Hospital. EQ definitely could use a Sword of Omens.... ....Sight beyond sight.... |

When I was a kid:
1. If it was not raining, I was OUTSIDE playing.
2. If I was playing baseball when my dad yelled out the door "SCOTTTTTT - DINNER TIME" I ran home, woofed down my food, and was back at the sandlot by the time it was my turn to bat!
3. I don't recall ever locking the front door, back door, or garage.
4. 8-track tapes were SOOOO cool - cause we could listen to them in the CAR!!!
5. PONG was the shit - but only after dark or on rainy days - see # 1.
6. We had about 4 channels on TV - the UF channel was the "cutting edge" channel.
7. If you got in a fight, you used your fists. If you got beat up, you went home and got cleaned up. The next day you went back to the lot and played with the same kid you fought the day before - it was over.
I could go on and on, but I am feeling old...I wish I could raise my kids in the same enviroment I grew up in though, honestly....those were the days!!

Forgot to add: H.R. Puffenstuff was a cool TV show, and my GI Joe had an authentic beard and hair. Johnny West was all plastic, though... |
