Account Clean-Up Round One

The following accounts are scheduled for removal for one or any of these three reasons:

1. Account is inactive (was never activated)
2. Account has never been logged on (some of these have post counts, they are the result of the ezBoard import which were never claimed/recovered)
3. Account has not been logged on in the last six months (some were hard calls, but after the account is deleted, they should be able to recreate it with the same name if it was unrecoverable for any reason before now).

Unless there is a response within two or three days about any of the accounts listed below, they will all be deleted before I start round two.

A final note: This is the first of probably three or four rounds of deletions. There are several hundred accounts to sift through and I'm checking several things on each one.

See, here's what I don't understand:

1. Try to log in with old account you know exists.

2. Password/username incorrect or inactive message from message board.

Instead of:

3. Contact administrator (me) to have it straightened out.

We result to

3. Make new accounts until it finally works.

You can't use the excuse that you can't find my e-mail address. It is posted in at least four places in the general forum. You could contact someone else in the guild who can get my contact information from me, you can click any of the contact links under any of my posts (for AIM, ICQ, whatever), I have a thread on the Technical Issues forum subject line "Getting Help on this Message Board." If you say, "I couldn't find your e-mail address," you weren't looking.

If you just forgot your password, then you can use the password retrieval tool, barring any discrepancies with the e-mail address you have specified on your account.

In the case of any other issue (where your e-mail address is incorrect, or your service regards e-mail from eqwalkers.com as spam), I can manually activate your account or do any number of things to get it working. I don't go for 8 hours without checking my e-mail, so while account issues are mostly a one-man show, I do have fairly decent turnaround time.

As far as accounts that were actually used at one point and just haven't logged on in over 6 months (like in the case of Kaelwolf), I debated on whether or not I should keep them. However, there are two reasons behind this (one of which is particular to Kaelwolf's account, the other is just a rule of thumb): I believe Kaelwolf actually has another account out there somewhere, he's fallen victim to the failed-login-and-just-made-new-accounts-until-it-started-working-again disease (Hi there, Abinsuran). Secondly, people who have accounts and haven't logged them on in over six months generally either won't remember the password and will make new accounts or don't care to post replies here anymore.

In either case, deleting your account isn't an act of ill-will in any way, shape or form, I'm just trying to do us and you a favor. Very Happy

Denee, it's really no big deal. I'm not upset over it and you shouldn't be either. It is highly probable I just need to have better instructions available.

In fact, after your old account is removed, I can rename your existing account to have the same name as the old one! I just don't like to pull that switch on people without their request because it changes the name you log in with.
