Hey all,

I hope you are all well. I've made a few decisions which I thought I'd share with my Walkers family.

(PLEASE pardon me, as for some reason, I can't post more than a few lines of text at a time without having IE or Mozilla timing out on me. My post will be in multiple parts.)

As you know, I haven't been on EQ for quite a while now. I embarked upon a break from the game, due to burn-out and a desire to experience a few new things. Since, I've played Horizons, Lineage2 beta, and a fair bit of Call of Duty. I've found that nothing has satisfied my gaming fix like EQ did.

The kicker is, I got home today from work, turned on the computer, and stared at the screen for a little over 30 minutes trying to decide what I wanted to do. It was a rather akin to being brain-dead, as I can't recall anything that I may have been thinking during that time. I then realized that I've been sitting infront of this computer for far longer than 30 minutes with nothing to do, rather the past 5+ years. I've been on every single day, for many hours per day, oftentimes until the wee hours of the morning (despite the need to be at work in a few hours). After a long time of sitting there, thinking about that and other things, I've come to one simple decision.

I've decided that I don't want be ME anymore. I want to read more books. I'd like to become active in the LARPs I was so involved in years ago. I want to go hang out at coffee with my friends. I want to head back to college. I want a better job. I want be there for my family. Anyway, there is a lot of things I want to do, and a few things I NEED to do, and I've realized that I can't do any of it pouring my life into this computer. As I write this, I realize that I've become a tad bitter for letting so many important things go by. I will be leaving EQ, and 90% of my computer activity, indefinately.

But the one thing I'm thankful for, and always will be, is Walkers. The friends I have here, the experiences I've shared, and the bonds I've made seems to be the only worthwhile thing I can take with me as I depart from online gaming. My sincere and hartfelt thanks to all of you. I'm proud to be a Walker. I'm proud to be your friend.

Sincerely,

Brent Sherman

PS. - This leaves me with one piece of business I'd like to resolve. I'd like to open my EQ account to someone in the Walkers. I'm sure a 65 shaman w/ 70 some odd AA's can be useful to someone. I also have a fairly nicely equiped BL in his low 50's. I have no set criteria yet as to who may have it, except that they be a Walker, and be currently active in EQ. The only thing is, I'm not sure if the account is currently active.

Understand that I am not going to sell this account. This will be a gift to someone in the guild, as I wish Elnrik to remain a Walker. If no one steps up and wants it, it will fade into memory, naught to be heard from ever again. Send me an email or private message if you're interested.

Brent,

There isn't anything I respect more in someone than initiative, especially for positive change. You've been a good friend friend for me, and for Walkers. Do yourself a favor (and us), and don't let that stop. Just because you're leaving the game doesn't mean you have to break off communication with us. Actually, just because you want to do more important things with your life doesn't mean you have to give up your computer completely. I'm sure if you want to you can maintain a healthy balance. Smile

Catcha soon, hopefully not too soon!

We will miss you, but I think we all understand that when you want to change your life that's the best thing you can possibly do. Please stay in touch with us as it's the person we're attached to, not the character you played on a game, even though that's how we met. *hugs*

You just have to quit a few days to find how much real life you've been missing. Be nice to find balance but the reality is that if you want your char to do well it requires staggering amounts of your time. Love the game ovbiously but what a waste of your life. Good luck with reality Eln Smile

I salute you and your strenght my friend, damn well said. You became a friend to me because of Walkers, and that is something that can NEVER be taken away, even if you no longer play this game. One day (soon I hope) I will be able to meet you face to face, shake your hand and drink beer with you.

Go enjoy those things you have been missing, you deserve it. However I ask one thing from you..............STAY IN TOUCH! Let us know what books you hvae read, what classes you might be taking, ask us for help with school projects, etc. I hate losing track of friends and this board is a great place to at least let us know how you're doing.

You were always a pleasure to group with and on raids Brent, thank you for all you did for Walkers.

I have missed, and will definately continue to miss seeing you around the EQ world. As someone who is still addicted to this game I admire and respect your ability to break free from the game to pursue other interests that you have been missing out on. Like Bon said stay in touch and keep us up to date on how things are going for you.

/salute

You will be missed but for some of us that have escaped a few times and come back there is life out there that is enjoyable. I personally can say that other games and activities filled my urges to do something a few times but I keep coming back to EQ but I think that draw somedays is just to chat with friends.

Definitely keep in touch and sprinkle some of that in on us so we can hear your accomplishments.
