Well we're all for another Walker get together on Friday night, like last year BUT, it will have to be at a child accessible place, like last year because N'ral will have his two children (Argonian is only 14 and his daughter Calmora just turned 18 in December) and Lythinin is 18 as well.
As for Studio-54, Roadster, N'ral and I were talking about it and I ended up calling Larn on my cell phone so we could have his input. After much discussion among the four of us, we all agreed that we really do not want to hit Studio-54 because, 1) none of us are willing to pay $20 just to walk in the place and 2) and more importantly for us, the children will not be allowed in there due to their ages. The three guys suggested some place like Pizza Hut, so that we can just be ourselves, so that everyone can still have some drinks, and so that the children are with us.
Sorry guys, but it's the price of having children under the age of 21. |

Lorie, I believe we were planning on getting together earlier Friday night with everyone and then those of us that wanted to can head to Studio 54 later when it opens. Some want to go later to karaoke, some want to go to Studio 54, and some who knows where. By no means is anything set in stone. Just ideas thrown out for thoughts and comments.
Personally, I would like to see us maybe gather somewhere for dinner. Benihana's is right there. And there are other restaurants around.
Throw out those ideas folks! Let's hear em! _________________ "I might be a little bit loco, but it keeps me from losing my mind."

I'd have to cast my vote for someplace fairly quiet to all meet up. I have no problem with going someplace else after, although $20 is a bit much to pay for a cover in my opinion. With two people that's 40 bucks just to walk in the door to the place, not to mention a flurry of overpriced drinks, makes for a really expensive night.
I tend to think billiards hall type bars are a little better to hang out in anyway, you can actually hear yourself having a conversation and can relax a little bit. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I don't have to have loud music and flashing lights to have a good time with my friends. |

Pool is good, but you will see how bad I suck at it.
Like I said before....all I want it my friends, some drinks and a cigar, the rest is gravy. _________________ Xecutioner Smith(retired) Dread Lord of Walkers

We are booked now from April 2- April 5. So we will be there early early Friday and will not be rushed leaving Sunday but will leave Monday.
So lets start posting where we meet and when.
I will be bringing my wife and baby. I want friends to meet my family and I want to show off my baby. I believe we are staying at the Hilton hotel itself. I kinda wish we got the timeshare again but no openings that weekend . They have great rooms there. |

We're staying at the Best Western Mardi Gras (I'm a member of the Best Western International, thanks to my grandfather...hehe)
We'll be arriving Friday afternoon and coming home Sunday evening so we can rest on Monday before going back to work on Tuesday. So we're available the entire time of Fan Faire. |

Okay, we are jumping all over the place here. Who are the Vegas Natives? Jak and Hauen? Can you guys get in tells with me this week and we will come up with a set place and time to meet?
Some criteria to look into:
Studio 54 was an idea of something fun that some folks want to do. We aren't doing this as the Walkers get-to-gather, but rather something extra to do on the side for folks who want to go.
We want a place that is not overly loud (IE: no nightclub or danceclub).
A place that has a bar atmosphere that we can smoke cigars and do a little drinking.
Preferably a place that allows young adults as well.
This doesn't limit us too much, I think. Are there any places around such as Old Chicago, Hopps, Fox and the Hound, Rock Bottom Brewery, Applebee's or CB and Potts in LV? _________________

Sorgaine, I am not a native of Las Vegas, we just seem to go there a lot and have gotten to know our way around pretty good.
I still think Ellis Island meets all of your criteria.
- I know they let children in the restaurants there, but I think there are some restrictions on the casino part.
- They have a microbrewery where beers are only $1 at the bar.
- You can smoke anywhere in there I think.
- They have Karioke at night however I am not sure what nights they have it.
- It was not too loud.
- For those who gamble, they have very low minimum stakes, such as $1 at the craps table and I think they even have $1 blackjack at one of the tables.
- For those of you who drive, they have free parking in back.
- There is a Super 8 hotel attached to the Ellis Island Casino (link to website below). I doubt it would be very expensive to stay there.
- The strip is one block away, it is located right behind Bally's, however it is a pretty good trek from the Hilton and you may want to share a cab.
- If you are hungry, they have the best bang for your buck. Steak dinner (one comparable to a $15 to $20 anywhere else) for $4.95. Other stuff on the menu is very inexpensive as well.
Downsides:
- It is not a huge casino and if you start having too many show up you may want to have a plan B somewhere. If you are looking for a place where 100 people can sit down around the bar at the same time, then this is not it. They have room for about 40 people around a square bar but getting seats for everyone all at the same time may be a challenge.
- They have 2 restaurants, but a lot of people know about their food specials and you can wait sometimes up to an hour to get seated if you go at a peak time. Again getting seats for everyone all at the same time may be a challenge.
I would recommend you meet there during the day (pre supper time) and I think you would have the place pretty much to yourselves. Afterwards, you all can have supper there before breaking off into your separate groups for the evening. Make sure you get your names on the list and make sure it is the restaraunt that serves the $4.95 steak. It is the one by the Karioke bar, not the one by the Microbrewery. Then you can either stay for some cheap gambling and Karioke, or head out to Studio 54 or whatever. If you want to walk the strip at night, it is only a block away. Right across from Bally's is Bellagio and they have a very nice water show in front of the hotel that is free. If you've never seen it, you should. They have a new and different show every 15 mins on the quarter hour I think but it may be every half hour, can't remember. Also, you have the free Volcano show in front of the Mirage? I think and the free pirates show in front of Treasure Island. All can be seen from the strip sidewalk.
I won't be able to make this trip, I hope you all have fun. Las Vegas is very easy to get around and cabbies aren't too bad, just make sure you tip them at least a couple bucks because they can wait in huge lines for a chance to pick up a fare, and they get kind of upset if they get stiffed. My rule of thumb is 20% with at least a 2$ minimum tip and they seem to be ok with that. Your mileage may vary.

One thing I would like us to do, after yesterday's guild chat, is a japanese restaurant night. Tyr, Jor, Dane and I for sure love sushi and I know others do, and I would also like to introduce some of you who haven't tried it or are hesitant to try it to some of the more mainstream forms of it, not al sushi is raw fish. Anyway this is just one more suggestion. Damn this is gonna be fun. _________________ Xecutioner Smith(retired) Dread Lord of Walkers

MMMMMMMMMMMM Sushi! Not only is not all sushi raw fish but japanese places also offer cooked dishes like teriyaki and tempura and yaki soba (mmm) , so don't despair!
Ellis Island sounds like a good one, I don't think we'll have that many people where we'll need to be concerned I think last count was somewhere around 30? Although if we do want to eat somewhere together 30 is an awful lot to try to sit together. |

Hilton is booked. Give them the SVSOE4 code and see if that prebooked space has openings. SOE reserved a block of rooms for people @ $125 a night. April 1 was booked up but we got April 2-4 reserved. |
