The strip is pretty long and it can take you a long time to walk from one end to the other, (I would guess at least an hour to walk from Stratospere to Mandalay Bay). They do have trolley's for under 2 bucks per person I know, but I have never taken them and I would imagine they stop at every hotel or corner, so they may take a long time too. I think the Monorail costs as well, but am not sure how much; but I imagine it would be much quicker.

You could probably get by on monorail and foot for the strip and cab rides everywhere else. |

The monorail will be running by then. There are also shuttles that go up and down the strip. We usually get to the area around Caesar's Palace and Bally's and walk or take the free shuttles from there.
Honestly, a car isn't really needed in Vegas. We live in Phoenix, which is approx. 5 hours away and we still fly to Vegas. _________________ "I might be a little bit loco, but it keeps me from losing my mind."

Yeah, pretty much everything around the Strip is within walking/cab/monorail distance. You shouldnt need a car. Everywhere else in town is where the locals go. :]
Don't know Ellis Island too well, but that might work too.
Gameworks doesn't let you take your drinks from the bar area? Huh, I didnt know that. Ah, maybe in the evening before they kick out the kids. When I've gone its always been late, and we'd wander the place with our beers in hand.
As far as Studio 54...clubs are loud places, so I dunno if I'd recommend that for the meetup itself. Could always get a group heading over there after the first place, tho. Clubs dont really get moving around here till pretty late, anyway(no last call).
One of the newest places out here is the Icehouse, in the downtown area. Not for the meetup, but just as another general bar/club recommendation for the weekend. _________________ --

Aye, I think Dene meant she wanted to go to Studio54 at some point. No way in hell I'd do the Walkers Meet-up there. But perhaps later, we may run up there and check it out. _________________

This is going to sound stupid but are babies allowed in bars in Nevada?
Some bars here allow them with parents.
Just still working out how to do this because I really want to bring along the familiy and have the wife meet the on-line friends. |

Talos, they now have a monorail system which goes to most hotels along the strip. There are a few off strip hotels, like the Rio, which have shuttles that go between the strip and those hotels. Unless you plan on leaving the strip area, I don't think a rental car is necessary, but that's just me. The Hilton is a little (like half block) off the strip, but I believe the monorail can get you there (or at least close from what I remember when I saw them building it last time we were there). _________________ Mistress Neffretiri DeRamses

As far as nightclubs go, on the way out of the Mandalay Bay heading for the parking garage in back, just before you go outside (still inside Mandalay Bay), there was a pretty happening nightclub. It was Friday and it was packed and it had a line to get in. But you could see inside because the front was all glass. Looked like a fun place. Even had girls in cages (kind of). Not strip joint type cages (not that I would know what those look like mind you) , they were dressed and the place looked a lil pricey but it was kickin'.
Maybe some one who lives there can elaborate more on the club. But if you are looking for studio 54 type clubs you may want to give this one a look. _________________ Jakhamma DaSlamma |

Studio 54 info:
Doors open at 10:00 PM Tuesday through Saturday. Tuesday nights visit Eden: Erotically Delicious Entertainers Night. Men $10 cover weekdays, $20 weekends. Half-price admission with Nevada ID. Women get in free. Casual attire. No baggy or torn jeans.
Are we going to plan on hitting here Friday night? 10pm sounds to me like the perfect time to raid. _________________ "I might be a little bit loco, but it keeps me from losing my mind."
