I have a Geforce4 TI4600 gfx card currently using nvidia driver version 45.23 & DirectX9.0b. EQ runs fine without any problems. As soon as I upgrade to SOE recommended version of 53.03 I start crashing-to-desktop on zoning. I have since reverted back to v45.23 - The same thing happened a few months ago when I tried to upgrade to the v52.16 drivers.

Any clues?

I have had very good luck using the recommended drivers for both Nvidia and ATI cards so no clue there. In fact with the Nvidia card my bro is using EQ will only work with the recommended driver at least the last two updated ones...

Anyhow, I'll assume you properly removed the old drivers during the update process =)

Contacting their tech support folks and waiting might be of some use.

Is there some other reason you want to update your drivers besides EQ ?

Otherwise use what works says I.

I have seen similar application issues when using the version of DirectX 9b that comes from Microsoft's Windows Update site. If that's where you got your DirectX upgrade, consider grabbing it from http://www.microsoft.com/directx instead.

Herb, if all else fails, reload your OS. I wish I had done that to begin with when I was having problems similar to yours - it would have saved me tons of time and frustration.
