I doubt that. Razz

Of the 12, 2 are Win2k domain controllers and one is a Linux box. Cool
(insert picture of a penguin)
I also live in a place where the road isn't even paved, so the best I could possibly hope for is having two machines playing EQ at once (on my nifty dial-up) and even that's pushing it most times.

I have plans to move into town soon, into an apartment, where I'll have a high-speed link, but lack the room to have 12 computers, so I'll be fending them away. Sad

I liked having this setup (along with a hefty armament of network equipment) because doing different things with them is what made me so good at what I do. I spend my days at work in a dusty room with Batman posters writing, updating, and selling database code, and slamming my hand on the desk when it makes me angry (becoming more and more common).

I just realized that I'm starting to ramble, so I'll stop now!

I just finished learning Access, and have started on Sequel now - all of which are necessary for my job. Fun stuff!

i had a similar problem a few months ago. I finally uninstalled the latest NVidia Geforce drivers (which were 52.16 at that time) and replaced them with the previous (44.xx i think?) and voila! problem solved.

http://eqlive.station.sony.com/support/tech_support/ts_video.jsp is the page with the SOE-supported video drivers, which usually aren't the latest ones available from ATI/Nvidia. Might help! Confused

Unfortunately, there's still a problem on the codebase and the problem may or may not be driver-related.

As a matter of fact, since the recent crashTodesktop(tm) is not video-specific, there's only a marginal chance that downgrading your drivers will have any effect.

While SOE tech support had me delete and replace several .ini and .exe files, has anyone actually tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling EQ? I've been holding off on reloading my OS because it will be such a pain in the arse that I thought it should be my last resort, but I haven't tried reinstalling EQ completely (which would be a pain the arse as well, but not nearly as bad as reloading the OS). I'd be curious to know if anyone with this issue has tried that.

Because your personal settings can sometimes cause crashes. Deleting the ini files and other things related to your customized user interface brings you back to a "sterile" version of EQ. Reinstalling EQ won't solve anything, and it will just make have to download almost 2 gigs worth of shit. If you delete your ini and UI files, then do a complete scan, you're virtually on a virgin EQ copy. The only difference is you still have all your logs and screenshots. Razz

That's a good point. Although if the issue isn't just the code in EQ, then reloading my OS might still be an option. But I'd hate to go through all that time and trouble only to still have the client crash problem. My guess at this point is that it's a combination of the code in EQ and something in my OS it's not compatible with. I don't know, but I'm sick of not being able to play after getting my cable modem hooked up again finally. Sad

Go ahead and try messing with your video drivers. That's farily painless and it might provide a temporary fix, at least for the time being.

I did that, dude. I loaded older drivers to see if that worked. No dice. I think I'm going to just suck it up and reload the OS. If that doesn't work, nothing short of a patch from EQ will help me (or anyone else).
