I wonder if a non-damaging hate/stat tap would work the same. The next time we finish an LDoN early I'll see if the group with go for it Wink

Unless you're way pressed for time, there's really no reason to ignore them anyway. The possibilities are:

1) Pet. Grats.
2) Get health back. Grats.
3) Get mana back. Grats.
4) Nothing happens. Oh well.
5) A handful of weak monsters spawns.

If 80 percent of the time, it's not a bad result -- and from what I've seen, it seems to be weighted about evenly -- I think it's worth the 1-in-5 chance of fighting a few spawns.

Of course, I always seem to be alone in my thinking that way in groups ...

The problem is you never know when you will be pressed for time. I have been in some pretty good groups and have had my back against the wall to finish. In the end, IMNSHO, it isn't worth the risk.
