so starting last sunday when i lodgged on my font seems to be messed up. like on the server select screen where it says all expansion enable, that text doesnt seem to fit where it's supposed to be. it's longer than it used to be. in game my inventory is messed up. like instead of saying i have 20 arrows it will say 2. and instead of saying im lvl 40 it says 4. also character names a big and blocky. i called tech support last night and they said they think its a video card issue but since im not using a recommended card they cant help. im planning on getting a new card anyway but i wanted to know if anyone had any other ideas. i also loaded the default ui but this didnt help. i also tried /fontsize or whatever that command is but that didnt help. any suggestions/ideas? thanks |

From EQ site about planed changes... I have no idea where this "font" interface is though. _________________

Dunno if this will help or not but a while ago, something similar happened to me. I had to go into my video properties in Windows (not EQ) and turn off Anti-Aliasing. With it on, EQ fonts were all funky looking and whatnot. Turned it off and they became readable. Then they patched and another change, AA back on, cleared up. Updated video driver, back to AA off to play. Yadda-yadda. Try turning some stuff off if it's on or on if it's off. And if at anytime, your video card bursts into flames, don't blame me.
Seriously though, try playing with some of the settings in properties (right click on desktop and go to properties and then settings and then advanced and see what you can do). SOE is known for tossing an updated something or other out in a patch that causes havoc with video card settings. |

Try some of the settings in: Start > Control Panel > Display > Appearance Tab > Effects... Button.
There is one there that is used to smooth font edges. Second check box down. |

A Geforce FX 5200 card would do well for about that price. They start as low as $60. The Geforce FX 5600 are a lot faster but they start around $110. I would suggest sticking with a Nvidia card with EQ. They tend to run a bit faster for the money over other chip sets.
Here is a link to a few at Newegg:

Other replies made me remember and want to share this: A lot of general graphics problems can sometimes be fixed by reducing your graphics acceleration just 1 click. It's in Display Properties if you hunt around a little. _________________ Dantenx Guildseeker
