I would like to publish an Excel spreadsheet to an EZBoard, but I am having problems. I get the line "HTML Comments Not Allowed" instead of the sheet I published. HTML is enabled on the board I am posting to (I can paste the source from a parse HTML and it shows up fine).

My method is as follows:
1. In Excel select File-Save as Web Page...
2. Open the HTM file that it generates with Internet Explorer
3. Select View-Source, which opens notepad with the source code in it.
4. Copy source code and paste in EZBoard
5. Make sure HTML Formatting radio button is selected
6. Open message to see my really cool spreadsheet I published
7. See the dreaded "HTML Comments Not Allowed"

Hmm, well.. barring any issues from the formatting you might have with the junky HTML, removing all of the "<!---->" tags should fix that issue.

Code:
<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->
<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

Are sample comment tags. They are only used to make coding easier and have no functional purpose outside of having marks and reminders to go back to when you need to edit. These are usually disabled on ezBoards to keep people from putting hidden messages in their posts, which could be seen as fairly offensive if someone were to do that. Twisted Evil

Apparently this isn't going to work. I removed the comments, no problem. But I keep getting more errors as I go.

METATAGS are not allowed
STYLES are not allowed
OBJECT TAGS are not allowed

Removing these leaves the spreadsheet intact, but it put about 6' of blank space at the top of the post, and all of the formating is gone from the table, which you can read after you scroll down 12 times. It's algined properly, but it's all just plain text, no color, lines, etc...

I've never been a big fan of Microsoft's WYSIWYG editors for HTML, because it junks up the code soooooo bad. InterDev is better than most, but Frontpage, Word, Excel - its damn near impossible to deal with if you want to do the code yourself.

My suggestion to you is to try making the table in Dreamweaver, or even creating the table in an HTML editor and ONLY copying the <table> tags.

If you want me to give it a shot for you, send me a copy of your spreadsheet and I'll give you an HTML table that will probably post.

Well, it's really not worth the effort I guess. I was thinking of moving my Fantasy Football stuff to EZBoard, and since I do everything in Excel and Excel saves as Web pages, I thought it might be a real simple thing. But since I've got 8 pages of stuff I want to post and update several times a week, I don't see it being worth the time.

The sheet that I tried to post here and on another board was just a little comparison between my current gear and the 760 point LDoN gear (and it looks like the 760 level stuff isn't going to do much for me).

Thanks for the help though Shi, I knew if I came here with my problem someone would give it a shot.

Well...

Do you have Frontpage or Dreamweaver?

You could export from Excel to a Comma or Tab delimited file and import into an HTML editor as a table, and that's sure to get you further along than where you are now.
