Ok if you have windows 2000 or xp there is a service called messaging that is running in the back ground. What this does is allows anyone that knows your ip address to send you pop up or spam. By default this is enabled. I don't know what micro$haft was thinking on this one.
Here is how you turn that service off.
YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN AS AS ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT THAT HAS RIGHT TO DO THIS!
1. click start button at the lower left hand corner
2. click settings
3. click control panel
4. double click administrative tools
5. double click services
6. scroll down until you see messenger and double click it
7. click stop to stop that service
8. then in the drop down menu pick disable
9. reboot that PC and go back and make sure that the drop down menu says disable.
No more spam!
