A Township modeling the remains of the oldest civilization to the best of their knowledge... having never seen them... Seemingly decrepid, run down, and not something to step into is all that is left after the latest horrible cosmic blazings. This last blazing had 12 blasts that came down from the heavens in an arch roughly 12 degrees off vertical heading slightly north. Each the size of Veeshan's Torso and hotter than the deepest lava pits in Solusek, these bursts of flame scorched everything in all of Faydwer. The Wood Elf civilization is in ruins with only a few surviving. They are desperatly trying to piece together a few rooms for mass shelter. The caves of Kaladim where the dwarfs live in were shaken hard, many buildings fallen, many lost lives. The Waterways have broken their boundaries and flooded the deeper caverns, washing out many on it's way and completely flooding the lower areas. Many swarms of bandits and cunning groups have sprung up around Butcherblock and Faydark. the High Elves have mostly survived. their Wizards were able to forsee some of the critical blows and provide an afront. They came together and centered all their concentration on force spells that would deflect some damage to other areas. Their main target was Crushbone, as It was a place that was their major bane, yet their aim was not flawless and didn't make any direct deflection hits. At least half the Wizards of Felwith have fallen. The Clerics have been slaving tirelessly to try to keep as many alive as possible and most attempts to resurrect have not been successful.

Of the few explorers left in the land, those that have not evacuated, none have been able to get into the little township. It seems to have come from nowhere, yet looks as if it was always there. Some believe it to have been delivered with one of the blasts. Others believe it had an invisible barrior on it shielding it from the sight of the world. The Interest of all of Faydwer has been gained, as even from all the work of the High Elves, Felwith allong with all the other outposts and towns have fallen. This one place is left standing and gaining the awe from all survivors.

This sounds like a news paper article=)
I would have thought the enchanters would save the city by chain casting Rune, are your sources reliable? =)
