Error 1234 "You suck hahahaha"

Well, the title of the post is pretty much what my computer says to me. But when i try and install any EQ expansions i get the error message.

- The InstallShield Engine [iKernal.exe] could not be installed. Access is denied. -

I started getting this after i reinstalled windows on my computer. It's not just EQ though because i tried to intsall Ghost Recon on my comp, same message.

I'm running windows me on a hp pavilion xg836, with a 733 mhz celeron, 256 mb ram, and a 30 gb hard drive. You probably dont need all that info, but i cant figure this out. I've given up, and will probably not try anymore. So, if you can figure it out, thanks.

if its Windows 98 you are using, try Downloading DCOM98 from www.microsoft.com/com/dco...wnload.asp

Reboot machine, then try again. Worked for me a few years ago.

Ack. reading now that you have Win ME, you could try this:

1. Select Start > Run.

2. Type DCOMcnfg.exe. This launches the Distributed COM Configuration Properties dialog box.

3. Click the Default Security tab.

4. Click the Edit Default button in the Default Access Permissions section.

5. Make sure you, as the user, have Allow Access next to your name.

6. If you do not have Allow Access next to your name, either modify an existing profile or create a new one that has the necessary permissions.

7. Apply all the changes and try to run your setup.

I had this one time myself...from what i can remember you have a file that isnt up to date in windows.....wish i could remember which one it was but been a long time (

Theres really not a whole lot in there for Windows ME Spaz. I tried cleaning up some files it said to but that didnt work.
