Okay, this isn't exactly Everquest related, but I need your help.

My G/F has nooooo interest in computer games WHATSOEVER, except for Solitaire. She played the Windows version of the game constantly until, when I thought I was deleting some useless spam/ad ware shite, I accidently screwed up her beloved program.

Big deal, right? Wrong. She is threatening to uninstall EQ if I can't get this fixed (little does she know, threatening to delete my characters would be much more effective).

SOO, does anyone out there know where I can get the files to reinstall that sucker? I downloaded a few solitaire games from the net, but they all have reprehensible interfaces, and she, in a word, hates them. I really wanna get that windows version back up and running. (I don't have an OS disk /duck)

Pleaase help!

I think you can readd it from Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, then choose the Windows program tab and choose it under games. If you have your Windows CD it should put it back.

OK

Following your advice was very promising. I went into the add/remove programs, and hit the microsoft tab. So far so good. I found that the games were installed, so I uninstalled them, shut down, restarted, installed, (tried the game, but it didn't work), shutdown, restarted, and still it didn't work.

I am not sure what the problem is. Perhaps the details may help shed some light on the situation so here they be:

SOL caused a general protection fault

*Note: I located the KRNL386.EXE file in the c/windows/system folder. I couldn't do anything with it -- I tried running it, deleting it, giving it a vulcan neck pinch -- nothing worked. I literally could not affect that file in any manner.

Umm, don't mess with the krnl386.exe Posa, bad bad things can happen. Might be there is still remnants in your registry from the original solitaire and it's conflicting with the new install of Sol. You can remove stuff from the registery manually but that's not recommended, very dangerous stuff.

One thing is to uninstall the game again, then run regedit or regedt32 and search for solitaire and see if anything is left in the registry, however if you have never messed with the registry be vewy, vewy caweful. If you do this and find stuff still in the registry post back here and I think one of us can help.
