downloading progams

Need some advise.. My gfriend uses my comp alot and im really TOUCHY about downloading programs and what not..I dont know how to explain to her what happens when u do this I just have always been if i dont know what it is I DONT download it.. Im i being unreasonable?? could use some input here..Thanks

YEAH IM looking in to doing that and there some peps that want to build me one heres what i have been offered so far
MSI kt ultra 2 with sound,56k modem,amd athlon xp2200+1.80ghz,17 inch monitor,5yr warranty,CD-rw 48-12-48,lite on 16xdvd rom,mid atx case 400watts,IBM case with 400 wattts p\s,IBM xp 7200 rpm 40GB hard disk,keyboard,mouse speakers,WINdOWS xp pro..to build he says will be 1000.00 ouch!! or this ams1.3 gmz cpu,eca mainboard w/audio,video lan,256 megs 32X64 pc133,western digital 20gig 7200 hard drive,1.44 sony floppy,56k modem,atx medium tower w/300ps.17 inch monitor,keyboard mouse,all using win 98.. GUY wants 599.00 to build this one ..Keep in mind im going to convert her over to eq as soon as we get one of these and id like it to run smooth for her.. are the prices far??

you need to be more specific re: video cards, soundcards, RAM (in your second option).

also, say NO to internal modems!

and finally, make sure that the second machine in WIN98SE, not the original WIN98 - cos' thats nasty <img src=

hm.. well on vid card and sound card illl have them use nvidia gforce3 and a good 24 bit sound card.. I really dont like amds but these guys seem to be high on them for some reason..so the price on the 2nd one may go up a 100 or so i guess..was wandering does anyone build them for a living i have no problem in mailing or wiring them the money..

AMDs are not that bad... on some test AMDs seem to run a bit better than the P4s in performance.. I built mine...

its a

AMD Athalon XP 2.0 GHZ
512megs of DDR ram
40gig HDD
ATI Radeon 9700 =) SWEET CARD... same one used to make DOOM III.
SoundBlaster Live Audigy2.

all that and the CD-R/W drive and a CD drive all came out to about.. 600bucks or so =)..

I build PCs for a living, but to be honest with the prices of PCs by DELL being so low now your best bet is to go that route. I could put something together for you but I specialize in high end gamer systems. Usually upwards of 2 or 3 grand which includes the monitor. If you want e-mail me the specs you were given and I will put together the right package, since you are a walker I won't charge you the build costs, just shipping and handleing. wow, ill see what i can do .. just bought DSL,PS2, 3 games and some ground efffects for my truck.. but hey ill save up a lil and see what i can do.
