I installed directx 8.1 newest version, and ever since I crash to desktop the moment I should start seeing in-game action. Tried reinstalling video card drivers, tried uninstalling the latest directx with directx buster, nothing has changed. I'd rather not reinstall windows etc but I'm running low on patience (and options).

Use the default UI...

That should solve your problem.

BTW the file creating the chrash is EQUI_Animations.xml
