Hmm...this was tough, but I finally narrowed it down.
Best Three:
1. Casablanca 2. Rear Window 3. Some Like It Hot
Honorable mentions:
The Iron Giant Star Wars & The Empire Strikes Back Raiders of the Lost Ark Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring The Apartment American Graffitti The English Patient Father of the Bride (the Spencer Tracy version) Arsenic and Old Lace Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon It's a Wonderful Life Chasing Amy High Fidelity A Christmas Carol (the Alistair Sim verson) Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein The Maltese Falcon
Wow, look at how many black and white movies are on that list. I am SUCH a product of my upbringing.
Worst 3:
1. The Fast and the Furious 2. Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me 3. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Honestly, those probably aren't the WORST three of all time, but they're the only ones in recent memory that I had a violent reaction to. Especially the first one - everyone associated with that movie should be dragged out into the street and shot. Edited by: Alphonse Kozureokami at: 7/10/02 8:25:12 am

Best 3 movies in terms of what? Acting, directing, etc?
These were the best presented ones, IMO.
1. Run, Lola, Run 2. The Others 3. Moulin Rouge/Romeo+Juliet (the presentation is the same)
Worst presented
1. English Patient 2. From Dusk till Dawn 3. Harry Potter |

1. English Patient
Huh, interesting. Worst presented in what sense? I was actually really impressed with this film, mainly because I considered the book to be unfilmable. (I really, really admire LoTR for the same reason.) I'll admit that the dialogue is melodramatic and over-the-top at points, but it's a terrific film in virtually every other sense: pacing, art direction, cinematography, musical score, etc.
(Don't tell Joe Rice I said this. He'd probably shoot me, or force me to watch Thin Red Line again, or something.)
On the other hand, it's been a couple years since I've seen this. I should probably watch it again to see if it holds up.

Oh, and I've agreed with most people's top 3 of all time as great flicks.
And Try: What makes "Barb Wire" cool is that they had the HUGE balls to quite literally do a shot for shot remake of "Casablanca" -- not scene for scene, SHOT FOR SHOT in many cases -- only with Pamela Anderson substituting for Humphrey Bogart. It's easily one of the funniest movies of all time for a "Casablanca" fan once you decide not to be offended by it. It's an amazing joke pulled by the writer on what quite likely is an unaware target audience for the film. _________________

Oh, and Alph, I would rate "The African Queen" MUCH higher than "The Maltese Falcon." For that matter, I'd rate "Key Largo" higher, too. _________________

Alph, I hate the English Patient. I cried for hours because of it. I couldn't get through the book (/rude english class). I was pissed at the ending because it didn't go anywhere. The movie was pointless to me. And I remember it being incredibly slooooooowwwww. It will always be my #1 hated movie. |

I forgot about Highlander II. What a piece of crap.
If you ever find yourself in the old sci-fi section of your local stolen video store, look for Blood of Heroes. Its called something else in europe... Rutger Hauer wearing pieces of car tire on his head in a post apocalyptic nightmare world. What could possibly be better than that?
