But it's almost like people's personalities are interchangeable when they use it 99% of the time!!

I just hate translating it in the middle of battle when I'm trying to monitor what's going on, the health of my group, the health of the giant (or whatever), the status of adds, and of course my mana. Scrolling back up to find something incomprehensible written there makes me crazy. I might just have to do a "no tells" thing with AFK when I'm raiding now. I'd love it if people could spell out stuff that they want actually read. ">

All this gibberish came about to help the modern webheads of today feel important/trendy/controversial like the hackers of yesteryear. Although using numbers instead of letters is another sign of the damage done by Clinton's school-to-work programs.

Oh, Valissa, the damage was done long before Clinton came around, and is really a byproduct of real estate value weakness, decentralization of power to devolve to some really willfully ignorant local school bodies and larger social dynamics at work.

Frankly, unless you're Monica Lewinsky's parents, it's hard to say Clinton did much damage to the youth of America.

The only good thing about d00d speak is it opens doors to some interesting role playing opportunities in game. For example... one day I was hanging out at EC tunnel, just chillin', and there's a druid standing a little off to the side. All at once about 4 people run up to him (guess he forgot to put /role on) and each one of them says... "Dude SOW PLZ"
Now I know that PLZ isn't technically d00d speak, at least not as much as "ph47 l3w75" or however the hell it's spelled, but I amost died when this druid stood there, and his reply was... "Plz, plz? I know this word not. What strange tongue is this that you speak?"

There was nothing for a second then, one by one....
"Can I have a SOW please?"
"Please"
"please, can I have a SOW"
"please"

I ALWAYS insist on manners. People come up to me and say "Can you SoW me?" I say, "Yes, I DO possess that ability."

Sometimes they don't get it with that hint, and say something like "Well?". That's when I hit them over the head with a hammer and say, "Just waiting for the manners to kick in and to hear you say please."

I'm not sure what d00d means exactly...however, if you are talking about the chat-room dialect of the English language, I have actually adopted some them myself, i.e. omw, brb, afk, lol, lmao, roflmao, wtf etc....

Now, the examples you gave like sUxxz0r or whatever? NO THANKS! I haven't had to deal with too many of those folks in my grouping experinces.

As to courtesy, it is amazing how many people can't figure out that one should say "May.....Please?" when asking for a favor. Also, I will often donate even when it is not asked for, and allow the kind person to decline if they desire.

I think that many of our less courteous, gimmie-gimmie comrades are young both in RL age and lvl. They haven't worked for their things in the game, or in real life.

Hmmm...like Klapton I'm not exactly sure what d00d speak is. Is it just stuff like brb & omw etc or is there alot more to it? (newbie question I know!). If it does include things like omw & brb etc, that doesn't bother me at all. Can understand some of it would make managing raids difficult...but I've had no experience of that yet /hint "> As long as people are courteous, pleasant and try and play the game as well as they can I have no problem with how they say things. I'm kind of more interested in how they act.
