Any idea on why the amount of damage would be different as seen in this screenshot? Normally, the damage is the same....

Only thing I can imagine is that perhaps the mob only had 2892 hps total and that was what was registered on the critical message, even though the critical WOULD have done 3080 hps of damage....

If it was runed, the humbers probably would of been flipped.

In some cases, a crit blast will land for the damage, but the crit message will only register for the amount of HP the mob has left. Back in the day when I could powder someone (rude patch) My crit would always land for same samount of damage, but the visible crit message would be the person's total hp.

Can you critical blast for more hit points than the mob has?

Way back when war criticals were always different than the damage you inflicted. Its a bug in the system. They fixed it over a year ago for melee but its possible that it has reimurged for casters.
