OK, I wasted like half a stack of peridots trying to show Riverdane "the writing on the wall" and he STILL didn't see it. (To be fair, I didn't see it half of the time, either.)

For those of you who have been playing without spell effects on, you've been missing out. There are several really neat spell effects and this is one of them. This is my Mark of Kazad symbol for those who choose to have PoTC instead of Virtue. Sorry about the quality, but the "writing" appears very brieftly as it fades in and out while there are sparkles of gold coming down. You have to watch for it.



(Have you seen the spell effect when a SK or necro FDs? TOTALLY missing out if you are.)

When it it cast on you it looks very sweet, the symbols appear in front of your face and then disappear. VERY COOL! The paladin spell celestial cleansing is ver sweet too, its a pillar of blue light that engulfs the target. I will get a screenshot and post it.

"New" spell effects that I have noticed and think it's pretty nice:

SK/Necro FD (black cloud)
SK clinging darkness (black smoke surrounding the mob)
Paladin Celestial Healing (a pillar of light from the heavens)
Shaman Torpor (white misty glow that radiates)
Druid Stinging Swarm line (revenge of the angry bees!)
Druid Ice Nuke (mob is encased in light blue glow while snowflakes float up in the air)
Cleric Virtue (misty white glow with some blue sparkles)
Bard mana song (they're so tiny -- looks like fireflies!)
Bard cure poison song (musical notes swirling around the person!)

If anyone sees anything else that's pretty neat to look at, let me know and I'll look for it. I usually play with my camera panned down on the ground so I can focus on the health bars instead of the action and can miss the spell effects if I'm not really looking for it.

Another shaman spell effect that appears to have been updated is the disease dot. It doesn't happen with poison, but in the case of disease, it looks like bubbling black smoke enveloping the mob.

Its great to cast on people who are standing in your way as well.. assuming they have spell effects on, you can really cloud their vision for a sec.

Too cool Pedi. Since my new video card I've turned everything back on and have been enjoying it. The first time I saw a druid summon his swarm was, um, startling. It was some druid in KD who was looking for faction and I was just there waiting on the CS key quest mob to walk by so I helped him kill giants. Caught me by surprise but very cool.

Actually, there's more to the cure poison and cure curse songs than just musical notes. =) The cure curse song, for instance, has ghosts coming out of the person that you are curing. Pretty neat!

The new wizard LoY vision spell has the same effect as the chanter vision spell. Nice, but subtle.

Ice Spear and Frozen Harpoon, though, those are some nice graphics. Will shoot some shots soon.
