Shiloch, it IS the screenshot section so expect large images posted in here. The reason why people post the full image is because it allows others flexibility in cropping exactly which part of the picture they want. The larger the file size, the sharper it'll look when it's cropped or shrunk down.

When it comes down to the actual sig size, yeah, I agree -- keep the dimensions small! My suggestion is no wider than 400 pixels because side scrolling really is NO THX and some people still use 800x600 monitors so the 400 pixels wide really is the recommended "ceiling." If someone breaks a thread with sidescrolling, I actually don't bother reading it.

Why do you have to have a sig the size of Texas? You know, some people have slow connections, and reading the message board is a chore when you have to download 20 megs of graphics to read what people have to say.

Images on regular sections do get knocked to screenshots. I do try to include a "(pics)" warning in the title of my posts and encourage others to do so.

And reason why I haven't done a "signature rules" post in this forum is because I want people to explore their creativity and get comfortable enough to make sigs. Some people don't know how to make small file sizes when they don't know how to make a sig to begin with. Once I feel they've got the hang of it, I'll normally suggest cutting down on the size since they pretty much can figure it out at that point!

And when I load a thread and don't want to deal with pictures, I hit the ESC key. Annoying, I know, but it's an alternative.

Its not the images on the screenshot section that bother me, its all the images on the REGULAR sections, and sigs that enforce sidescrolling. NO THANK YOU.

Lilli, I don't think he was talking to you directly about the sigs even though it looks like it since his reply came after your post. I re-read the thread and I think he was annoyed with the first post and asked why anyone would consider using a full length picture as an actual sig.

He's annoyed in general with sigs, not you directly. I know that Larn's sig forces him to scroll sideways (I have to scroll sideways, too). I'll talk with Lorie and ask if she could crop down on the width and reupload with the same name so it doesn't break the posts for some of us.

I did fix Larn's banner, took me all of five seconds (I took my time..hehe). I too, noticed that it would cause side scrolling but only when I was at work, so I didn't think anything of it. It should be fixed now, if not I'll figure out some way to fix it. ">
