Squire you get rid of by posting more. There's new titles after 1, 5, 10 and higher amounts of posts. No one's even cracked the top two titles yet.
As for where to upload them to: Call your ISP. You have space given to you when you get an account. They can help you upload stuff to there. If they give you no satisfaction, come back here for advice on free services.

OK, moving on to free services!
Go to: www.angelfire.com
Click on "SIGN UP" under make a homepage. (I made one so I can go through the steps and explain how to do things accurately. My new site is www.angelfire.com/grrl/leopa )
Enter your information. Blah blah blah. (I didn't enter my real personal info except for my email address. Spam = no thx, la.)
Once you submit that, you're all signed in!
Now you'll see your control page. At this point, all you need to do is scroll down to "File Upload." Click the "browse" button and look for the picture on your hard drive. Once you've selected that, hit "upload."
And that's it. You've successfully uploaded a picture on your web server. Let's say I uploaded "cleavage.gif" this way. My URL would be www.angelfire.com/grrl/leopa/cleavage.gif - Use the EzCodes to properly put the picture in your post and use the preview button to see if it works. If it doesn't show up in previews, it's not gonna show up on the actual post.
Good luck! Once you've figured out how to get your pictures uploaded properly, I fully expect you to have a signature ready soon. Chop, chop! |

Dammit. I forgot this place was like geocities. I looked at Shiloch's picture and saw he used angelfire to post HIS picture.
OK, from here, you can either:
a) find another website server that will do this for you without the logo crap (maybe Xoom.com or Fortunecity.com -- I'm not sure -- I don't know what websites are free today and still do this -- Whiz and I pay for our own server so it's different for us -- will look into this)
b) work around this for now and make a page. In your control panel, go to "Create a new ..." and seleect file. Type in "hammer.html" (can be anything, but humor me). Hit the button. Select "advanced editor" for now. Hit submit. You will see this:
(html) (body)
(/body) (/html)
I changed the brackets to parenthesis for this post. Be sure they stay as brackets in your HTML. Put the following line between "body" and "body":
(img src="hammer.jpg")
** Use brackets, remember. I use parenthesis so you can see what I'm typing instead of it being automatically converted on this board.
Hit preview if you want to see what it looks like or just hit "save."
Come back here and post the link to your new HTML page.
www.angelfire.com/realm2/...ammer.html
THAT should lead to a page that will display your picture correctly since you're using an angelfire page to view the picture. If that doesn't work, I'll find another server for you to use. Sorry for all the frustrations you're having. "> |

People have been saying www.strike9.com is a good place to host your pictures as it was meant to hold EQ pictures. FYI -- you can see other members directories and what pictures they're holding so nothing you upload will be private. Plus I've seen a lot of porn pictures uploaded to certain directories recently (I know this because the front page shows you what pictures have been recently uploaded) so you might want to think about that. If you just want a site to upload your pictures to, then that's a good start without having to worry about homepages such as geocities and stuff.

Try <IMG SCR="hammer.jpg">
I think it's either SCR or SRC (I get them mixed up) and I'm pretty sure you need quotation marks. See if that works!
And see if you can get pictures hosted at www.strike9.com -- I don't have an account there so I don't know how it works, but I know a lot of people are using that because they don't get the "broken" logo like angelfire and geocities. |

It's SRC. Stands for "source." _________________

Your default directory should be C:\ Program Files\Everquest. The pictures will be titled EQ00001.bmp and so on.
BMP is OK, but it's hard to load on some servers and takes up a lot of space. If you know how to use a graphic editor, you will want to convert the picture into a .gif or .jpg.
The pictures are in the same directory as your eqclient.ini. Edited by: Whizbang Dustyboots at: 1/15/02 8:17:33 am

Quote: Kelorna Bloodwraith Inkie Scum Chick Posts: 720 Posted: 1/29/02 9:36:02 pm Image Linking -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know this will be valuable information for many of you who do not have your own server to host things. Especially since strike9 just stopped allowing hot linking to images.
Upload a picture to geocities and rename it with the .txt ending intstead of the usual .gif or .jpg tag.
Then link to it (remember that the file is now called .txt). So far this works, because geocities only gets picky if it ends in an image tag.
It may not work 100% of the time, but it will work if you are absolutely desperate.
