Kaosmos, yep, I did. The book was more angsty than the previous four books were. You know how in the last book, the bickering between Hermoine and Ron seemed to indicate that a romance may be happening between then? Well, the bickering in book five was something else. It was like, wtf, it's not the same kind of bickering. It's like they really are annoyed with each other!

I dunno. I did notice the tone was different, but this book is full of goodies that needed to be addressed for a long time.

Finished it! Kickass book! Amazing scenes there at the end especially. And Tonks is the coolest wizard ever.

Okay, Pedi, I can buy that the tone was different (I notice a lot of superficial lack of concern for other people's well-being, which was there in previous books but more blatant in this one). And I think that does mostly play into the whole "they're becoming teenagers" thing. But what I don't see is that Harry's reactions to the situations he was put in were in any way extreme or unwarranted. Personally, I think he had the patience of a saint. I did enjoy the book, though. (Not a Tonks fan, though, sorry Whiz. I'm too into the whole "competence" thing. <g>)

Wow, I'm so headed for remedial class - didn't finish the book til Friday almost a full week after it came out!

I loved it and in celebration I rented the second movie last night on DVD.

I always had trouble disliking Snape and now I guess I know why - omg we were geeks together in high school!!!!

A.S. Byatt:

"In "Order of the Phoenix," Harry, now 15, is meant to be adolescent. He spends a lot of the book becoming excessively angry with his protectors and tormentors alike."

I see. So one is only supposed to be mildly peeved at one's tormentors...

To be fair, his protectors didn't tell him diddly squat. I'd be pissed, too!
