I think maybe we should wait a few weeks before picking some sort of "Walkers" sanctioned server (so we can be together!) so we're not on one of the first 10 FULL AS HELL servers...
But..this was something posted recently in regards to servers:
Quote:
The game is built such that we don’t want to segment the population too much so at this time we do not have an “official” PVP or RPG or German etc. Galaxy. That of course doesn’t stop you all from having “unofficial” servers. For example, many fans are promoting: Ahazi - US West Coast Bloodfin - US East Coast - unofficial PVP server (www.swgpvp.com) Bria - US West Coast Chilastra - US East Coast Corbantis - US West Coast Eclipse - US East Coast – unofficial UK player server Flurry - US West Coast Gorath - US East Coast – unofficial German player server Intrepid - US West Coast Kauri - US East Coast – unofficial French player server Kettemoor - US West Coast Lowca - US East Coast Naritus - US West Coast Radiant - US East Coast Scylla - US West Coast Starsider - US East Coast – unofficial RPG server Sunrunner - US West Coast - unofficial RPG server Tarquinas - US East Coast Valcyn - US West Coast - unofficial PVP server (www.swgpvp.com) Wanderhome - US East Coast
While I recommend you play on any server you choose, it’s important to let you know what large communities are moving in. What ones have I missed in this list?

Unlikely that I will fork out the cash for it. I tried the beta for a while. The graphics are amazing, but maybe its a genre thing, but I just didn't enjoy the game play at all. I found it very difficult to move around. I am a keyboard AND mouse person and I found it hard to accomodate that in SWG. I found the interface very cumbersome, the action dull, and overall the game was just generally boring. If this is what they are going to do to the EQ2 interface, I will not be going to EQ2. I’m glad I got to Beta Test it instead of buy it. Of course, this is just my opinion, I may be wrong.

For those that had a difficult time with the interface, I read this in one of the guides and wondered if it helped..
Quote:
Select this option and the list of functions and their corresponding keys will be displayed. You will also see a drop-down menu to "Load a Standard Keymap."
This allows you to select from other game-style keymaps, like EQ (EverQuest) style, for example.
If you are an EQ or DAoC player, then the EQ-style keymap is probably closest to what you're used to. There is also a First-Person Shooter style and an Isometric (UO) style to choose from.

/wave Walkers ">
I was in Beta on this one also, after about 2 weeks I was so bored I couldn't see straight. It's not just the interface, I switched mine to EQ based and it was fine. The problems lie with the combat system, OMG it's boring! It's sort of a turn based system, all you do is click on your special attacks and wait for the server to finish it all for you. They've also enabled autoattack so the server will automatically attack something that is attacking you, which was done in Anarchy Online also and complained about so much that even they knew to get rid of that after the first 6 months. It leaves you feeling like you had nothing to do with any of the mob deaths. Lets say you get attacked by 5 mobs at once, you kill one, automatically you will switch to the next. This may seem like its the easy way to do things, but it also involves NO tactics and for ex EQ players its just too easy. To be perfectly honest I found Anarchy Online about a thousand times more fun to play when it first came out, and any of you that played that know how bad it was for the first year. Anyway this was a major disappointment to me, I had waited literally years for them to release this game. I expected so much more. Now I'm crossing my fingers that WoW will be the game, but I'm starting to feel that once you've played EQ nothing matches up or is as satisfying so we are all screwed. hehe! |

I don't like how the game seems as if it is totally up to the players to create the world content, like SIMS ONLINE. I was impressed and bored all at once. I dunno, I would suggest you wait like 6 months to a year.
Overall to REALLY enjoy this game you NEED to be in love with star wars. . .my opinion

The way the launch went we ended up moving to Ahazi. Sorry for the late post. I've been having alot of fun in SWG me and some friends are exploring Naboo now. We use a voice program called Ventrilo that makes the whole experience alot more fun IMO. My Charactors name is Jobafet he is destined to be a Bounty Hunter. "> _________________ Gryfndor 65 Wizard

A few other peeps ya'll might know and want to look up on Chilastra.
Myself (Durindas hubby) Gauge = Human Medic on Naboo Nukken/Chikarik (from UP) Blayney = Scout on Naboo Ralar/Aaone (from UP) Unknown name, but will post as I get it.
Those with complaints about the controls and UI. In the control feature they have a keyboard dropdown. You can select EG style and all controls match what EQ's are. Makes it alot easier to play now. The Holocron, Datapad, and /find are your best friends for a few days.
