i am curious as to who what where when why and how i go about applying for membership in walkers?
i have 'just' about hit the end of my ropes in EQ, because after 4 years of the same anything, that anything tends to get uhhh, stale, no matter what it is. i don't log in anywhere near as often as i used to, but the odd time, i get the urge to go slaughter upright semi sentient frogs or crawl around the bazaar and see what interesting things people have for sale.
i have been around vazaelle server since its beginning. i have been in the high end guilds (po cc, more), seen some insane encounters, looted the best items in the game, and in doing so i have met some of the best, and worst, people i have ever come across, in real or fantasy life.
i have had A LOT of people ask me about guilds on vazaelle, and what one they should apply for. i always ask them:
do you want be in a guild that goes to all the zones, get all the loot, and be part of a virtual collective clan of childish loot grubbing dramaqueening whores, seemingly devoid of morals, ethics, and intelligence ?
OR
do you want to be in a guild where you will get to see most zones, get pretty good loot, and be made to feel like you are an important individual amongst mature equals sharing in the responsibility of maintaining a democracy ?
you would be surprised at how many people want the first option. its the easy way out. the second option is my round about description of what i think walkers is all about. keep in mind that its just my opinion, and i dont everything there is to know about the guild.
as i eluded to earlier, i have 'been there, done that' in EQ, atleast up until Planes of Power. after a lot of thought, i have come to the conclusion that the reason i keep coming back to EQ is not the encounters, or the loot. its the people. and by my estimation, walkers has good people.
to those that know me, they know what i bring to the game. my knowledge of the game, just from being around it for so long, is completely rediculous. i have a very referentially oriented sense of humor, coined on the simpsons as something to the order of "The Dennis Miller Effect". i can also be very focussed and determined on setting and accomplishing goals. i am willing to offer my help to just about anyone with anything.
as i mentioned at the start of this post, i am 'just' about at the end of my EQ life. i still enjoy the game in much smaller amounts than i have in the past, and i would like to retire with walkers, a guild that i know possesses many if not all of the positive virtues i deem neccessary to garnering my respect.
i would appreciate that this post/thread be moved to an appropriate forum if i have mistakenly posted in the wrong one. thanks for reading this and hopefully i will see you around.

Laminar once did me the greatest act of unprovoked kindness of any stranger during my tenure in EQ, back when I was just a wee bard. I have never forgotten it. _________________

hi to all again.
kaosmos - what did i do for you? sorry that i cant remember, i have done hundreds of random 'nice' things for people on vaz. i have never told anyone any of this, but whoever i have helped would surely remember me, like yourself. i have outfitted dozens of newbs in leather armor in freeport, given away oh, something like 25 mith 2h's while farming crowns for people, given away ODS's to random people, participated in dozens if not hundreds of epic hits, PL'd random newbs for no reason other than to have fun, moderated disputes in and out of game when no one else would step in.. i stick up for the underdog, likely to a fault.
here is a fun thing to do (atleast for myself): plow guk from say live side zone in, to dead side zone in. loot everything in between, and hit the bazaar. see what you can buy with that 200pp it took 10 minutes to harvest, and turn the goodies over to a newbie. i fully realize just how big a difference some hp and ac makes to a newb, it can change the game for them, in a good way. down time is my enemy and i strive to limit it heh..
i have kept in touch with many of these random newbs, some grew fast and i knew were good players, some are still great friends, and some have become some of the most powerful players on the server.
if you see a guy named Raizar in the game, look him up. he has levelled a human paladin (god damn, talk about down time) mostly on his own as his first character. he is in mid 40's now, and is a really nice guy. would make a great recruit, actually.
anyhow see ya around i hope. i want to raid with you soon, if i can. 4 days a week are open atm. Edited by: xereau at: 5/2/03 1:47:53 am

Laminar I would like to speak to you in game if you find time to log in. I am currently playing Elison 55th level bard. Dont withdraw your app yet unless you dont wish to join Walkers anymore. |

oh yeah i remember that now. was the last time i ever did the TT named cycle, and the second to last time i ever did the hero bracer quest. and yeah, i know how much it meant to you, otherwise i wouldnt have offered to help heheh.. bracer is the toughest slot to fill for most classes too "> i hope you have better now though! i think level 1 rats in freeport probably poop out 100hp items now like there is no tomorrow. eq is brooooooooken. |

Hey, Caniel and Bonlainy! I leave for New York in 4 days, so I don't expect I'll have time to play for a bit (and once I get there, I will probably be spending my time looking up slack-jawed at the big buildings like a true Qeynos yokel), but I will definitely pop in from time to time. ">
Laminar, I didn't expect you to remember. It was a long time ago, one spontaneous act among what I didn't doubt were many. I was a young bard desperate for his Iksar illusion mask (my fetish for the illusion masks is now well known <hugs gnome mask>, but back then all I had was my Mask of Deception). You were selling one, and let me make up what I lacked in cash (being very poor) with trade items, including my just-acquired and badly-needed Hero Bracer. Sad to see it go, I handed it over, and was shocked when you offered to go to the Steamfont Mts. and solo the Mino Hero for me to get me a replacement bracer, which you proceeded to do AND THEN went to Freeport and did the turn in so I wouldn't even have to take the faction hit. Behavior waaay above and beyond the call of duty. It's hard to imagine now how a Hero Bracer might make such a difference to a person, but at the time, it sure did. Heh, I was browsing through my old screenshots last week and came across one of you in the EC tunnel. The first time i saw you in Iksar form. I still remember being <shocked> at just how damn cool you looked as a Leezurd with a tambourine. /sigh the good ole days
You are moving to NY???????!!!!!!! You better look me up before I am forced to go into stalker mode =) Edited by: Caniel Faithealer at: 5/2/03 11:24:41 pm

Got it, Caniel. Will definitely drop you a line once I get "settled."
Yes, I have somewhat better bracers now, Laminar, but you'd be surprised how long I wore it. Edited by: Kaosmos Tunebane at: 5/2/03 10:07:37 pm
