Well, the first Warcraft III clone is on its way. I'm amazed that there's an actual developer, since looking at the screenshots, this looks very much like someone in the War3 mod community just made a sort-of EQ mod for War3 and convinced Sony to publish it. The graphics, the environmental effects, the perspective, even what elements of the interface we've seen, they're all more or less direct rip-offs of War3. (Check the War3 Kodo Beast that I'm sure they're going to pretend is an EQ Drogmor, despite it looking almost nothing like a Drogmor from the game.)
As for this being an Everquest product, I find the storyline incoherent, to be charitable, and I find it laughable to call any of the units Everquest-inspired. Unless you were told this was an EQ product, there's no way you'd guess that.
Is there anyone buying the one new EQ product a month out there? And if so, how can I convince you to stop it?

The only RTS game I ever enjoyed was Starcraft. I've tried the rest, and truly hate them all "> (Sorry Warcraft lovers!)
Black & White (though really not in the same category) was fun for a while...but, jeez, talk about micromanaging!!! |

Not sure if you consider Heroes of Might & Magic as the same genre but I love that series. I have 4 but EQ kind of takes my time. heh HoM&M IV is a lot more advanced too, the cities and armies are much more detailed. Personally have never tried Warcraft but have always heard good things, maybe I should give it a whirl. I love Civ.
Starcraft was cool - but once I finished it I sort of got bored with the whole genre. Don't worry Wiz I won't be buying the new EQ RTS Who needs FEIGN death when I can do the real thing _________________ Is it paranoia when they really ARE out to get you? |

Whiz, does that mean I shouldnt buy a second copy of EQ for my cell phone? Now I just need to get a cellphone to put it on. Ah well. I am now up to 27 Firiona Vie Dolls!
I bought WC3 as soon a it came out. I think it lasted me half a weekend and I was back on EQ. Bought Simcity 4 2 weeks ago, and I only play that when bored of EQ.
Civilization was a great game! So was Age of Empires which is about the only RTS game I have liked. _________________

I'm not a big fan of RTS myself, and most of the games that I play are old. Civ3 mostly, although me and the guys all went out and got Freelancer a month or so ago, and have spent at least one day out having a good time with it.

I am defintly down with Age of Empires 1 & 2. I even bought and kind of liked Age of Mythology. Anything with Sid Meyer's name on it is going to be good. My favorite is still Pirates! Gold. Wish I could find a copy of that now. As for this EQ based RTS, why even bother making this game, let alone playing it? _________________ Life's funny with a gun to your head. |

If Pirate's Gold is the game I am thinking of, it was great. We used to play it in high school during free periods.
And for a real nice game you will never be able to find a copy of, Balance of Power that was originally for the Apple IIGS. Although it was turned based, I have never seen another game like it. _________________

No matter hard i try I always suck at RTS games. I dunno if it's because I lose interest after a while, or cant multitask, or what. But this EQ game looks like warcraft 3 kinda which I sucked at. The computer kicked my ass royally every single time. /sigh But my BF sucked even worse then me
I will probalby try this one though just for the hell of it, and get my ass kicked, again, and again.. Quillamaya Allura ~ 57 Beguiler ~ Trikky Spankya ~ 55 Blackguard ~

I found Pirates Gold on a CD a few years back and hold onto it for dear life. Still one of the best games ever. I loved the different ways you could play it and all the variety in such a seemingly simple game. _________________
