As Spiritual put it, "This one is actually worth reading. It is written by a psychologist that also plays EQ, and then did a study on gaming.
He was actually very unbiased in his views, and made a lot of valid points I thought." |

It ALL depends on what other commitments you have. I find when I play less EQ I get more things done in real life. But I like to play, so NYAH! Quillamaya Allura ~ 56 Beguiler ~ Trikky Spankya ~ 55 Blackguard ~

I wouldn;t say he was "unbiased" really. It sounds to me like he is as hooked as the rest of us and just trying to use his psych background to justify.
The best justification for EQ in my mind is: Playing EQ I spend $13 a month on computer games. Not playing EQ I spend $150 a month. Screw that mind crap it's all about the $$$

/aye $13 on EQ a month, or $100 on computer games, $30 on cable (or even more on Satellite as I was thinking of that) $60 on hockey/football games (at least one a month) and probably $25 bucks on DVD rentals. Instead, hockey/football once every 2 or 3 months, reduced cable at $14 a month, one DVD rental every 2 months, haven't bought a new comp game (except LOY) in months. So EQ is saving me money.
I play maybe 15-20 hrs a week. Spent all day Saturday with the family, Sunday at church with the family, Cub Scout leader, writing a novel usually right before I log on, Judo from 5-6, kids baseball/soccer/hockey/skating 4 - 7 on various days .....
If I weren't spending 15-20 hours on EQ it would be another computer game (like Neverwinter Nights!!). I've played computer games since 1982 (C-64!!), so old habits die hard Rychard Strongheart, 56 Epic Knight of Rodcet Nife
