The first two "arcade" type video games I ever played were Pong and a two player tank game with two dimensional video and a maze around which one had to navigate to get at the enemy tank.
AOL had a proprietary, text based sci-fi game involving inter-planetary travel (within our solar system), puzzles, etc. I can't remember the name of it now.
My first PC RPG game was Wizardry's Crusaders of the Dark Savant. I played it through to the end several times using different characters. There were four variations on the ending, and I did all four. |

My fave ARCADE games:
Pac Man - 'nuff said.
Arkanoid - this game was pure zen.
Double Dragon - 1st arcade game to finish on a quarter.
Rastan Best barbarian PC game. (though a cheap Conan knock-off to boot!)
Operation Wolf - wasn't this the 1st arcade game with a gun you could fire? This kicked so much arse.
NinjaGaiden and Shinobi - It was the 80s. And there were ninjas. Hence, these were cool games.
Rolling Thunder - You jumped between floors and doors and shot people. It was more fun than it sounded.
Street Fighter 2 - HAAAUUUUKEN!

Rastan rocked too! I have collected almost all of those old coin games over the years using a PC arcade port called MAME. Currently I have about 300 games for it including ALL the original Atari games and most of the old cool Arcade coin games including the ones Abin mentioned along with:
Mrs Pac-man Xevious Zaxxon Yie Ar Kung-fu (really proud I found this game. It took way too many of my allowances when I was younger!) Robotron Qix Moon Patrol Golden Axe Elevator Action the list goes on, but those stand out in my mind right now.
Nice to see others enjoyed the classics too - look up MAME if you want to take a trip back in time !

My first real computer was an Amiga 500 - so the first real adventure game for me was "Eye of the Beholder" - loved it! "Eye of the Beholder 2" was also pretty good. I'm still trying to find a good version of "Lemmings" for the PC - that one was classic -- and damn addicting, too.

I still play Zork Zero once in a while. Great hybrid between adventure games and RPGs. Basically a one person MUD. Lots of fun, even if the final encounter is buggy (to put it mildly). _________________
